Structures Workshop

Semester 6

A three day Structures Workshop was held from 9th to 11th January for the students of the sixth semester. Conducted by Nithin M.S. and Manoj S.G., the workshop focussed on alternative construction technologies. Students constructed a bamboo and mud gazebo, while also learning to make cob mix, funicular vault and masonry dome.

Students also learnt about texturizing and polishing mud surfaces using Dorodango (Japanese polished clay balls).

At the end of the workshop students visited the Mud Palace at Sural, which is currently being restored by the Archaeological Survey of India, to study vernacular building techniques.
